Nobody is denying the talent that we've had over the years, but it doesn't matter how gifted the players can be, if they don't play as a team and execute the basics, you will lose. The team under Clive Lloyd/Viv Richards was argubly the greatest that has ever played cricket, but if they didn't have the discipline or hard work that came with it, they wouldn't be as successful and i'm sure alot of the players from that era will testify to that. The fact that you used players such as Ambrose and Lara, still lost just as many games as they won. Unfortunately depending on individual brilliance to save or win a match is just not good enough i'm afraid. With the current state of the squad, they have to play as a unit to gain any success. Headley, Constantine, the 3xWs and Sobers were great players, doesn't necessarily mean they'd be great coaches. And vice-versa with Simmons, Williams and Gibson being mentioned as coaches were hardly 'greats' in their playing days. I'd respect you more if you just tell it as it is, you object to having a foreigner being the coach, instead of using this as a political tool because you're too gutless of being accused of discrimation.

Am i hearing correctly.. hopefully the Wi players dont start with negative attitutes too. Correct me if i am wrong but doesn't Jamaica have someone in the top brass of their police force who is from overseas... and many Caribbean countries also go for foreign consultants.. leaving their home grown ones in the cold..No coach should be teaching big men how to bat, bowl, field etc..lets all look in our own homes first and see how many non Caribbean persons we have in top positions and then we can all criticise the head of the home first then we can then move on to the WICBC

We used to be world beaters. Today we are not. Support the new coach for the good of West Indies cricket. How nice it is to have a foreign born player, who learnt his art abroad, doing well for Jamaica. Bobby Simpson was welcome in Ja some years ago. Al Gover did well for a number of our players who become superstars.Kerry packer had a major impact on our players. Stop the disunity. We don't need it now. Help the player improve there game. They deserve it. I welcome the new coach. If he can do well in Bangladesh he will be useful to us if we support him. I have never seen a coach in the score books. When a batsman scores a century he gets the credit. When one speaks badly against the coach, they are disuniting a society which is already insular. We must not isolate ourselves from the rest of the world. I am sure Siimmons is wecomed in Ireland. Roger Harper was appreciated in Keyna and Gus Logie worshipped in Bermuda. When the bickering going to end?

    LBF,

It won't end, but will subside considerably when the DAMN idiots at WICB realize that WHITE is not always RIGHT. Simmons and Williams are just as qualified as Dyson so explain, if you can, why neither were selected for the head coach job. Let me give you a hint, backwardness occupies the minds of a large percentage of West Inidians in Hunte's age group.

It is not a question of being black or white. Give the men we put in charge of our cricket a chance. Our cricketers are being affected. When the position for the presidency was up for grabs, no one came forward. They had all the excuses in the world. Please read the article in the Barbados Nation Hendy Springer's comments . We need to humble ourselves. The West Indies have being playing cricket for 79 years the Aussies 130. When they were down they sent for Richards and company to play in the Sheffield Sheild Competition and they learnt from them. It is not a disgrace to hire a foreign qualified coach, it is the right thing to do. The new sensation in Ja team Brendon Nash learnt his cricket in Australia, playing for Queenland. We welcome him and I hope he makes the WI team. Why are so against the coach. Desmond Haynes helped Herchelle Gibbs. Richie Richardson helped Justin Langer. Give thse we elect to run our cricket a chance. If we don't webound to end at the bottom of World Criket laader.

Well, every body keep saying Who coach they should hire. I think, the real problem is with the amount of cricket we play. The west indies players does not play enough first class cricket. The first class competition is too short. Let look at the other test playing countries. They all have long first class competitions.
It does not matter how many coaches we bring here. no coach would help west indies. what would help west indies is regular first class cricket.

The great heritage of West Indies cricket was incubated by West Indians in foreign lands with foerign work ethics and foreign ways of thinking. It wan not because of those great cricketers adapting West Indians standards in their devotion to duty.

This hiring of a foreign coach is pure NONSENSE !
