A WI 20/20 team without Ganga as captain s doomed to fail against England. Lets face it, T&T won because of superior leadership by Ganga. One would have think that he would have been the natural man to lead the outfit.

Looking at this team, I will bet a Trinidad team can defeat the WI select. Maddingly, Gayle and Jospeh made it. Gayle's 20/20 record id the worse for any front line batter in the world, moreover, his he seems lost in 20/20.

Well I guess Joseph, being from Antigua, they couldn't overlook him.

At any rate I wish the team well, but I doubt very much thay can win and cash in on the $20mil

i know , too much sun this summer,

20/20 team picked my only problem here is powell, i dont think he has demonstrated that he is an international player of class.

hooray ram u must be happy, no ganga and no ramdhin.

coverdrive, wa wrong with you boy....ganga did not even make the team to go to Canada .

West Indies squad Chris Gayle (capt), Xavier Marshall, Sewnarine Chattergoon, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Brendan Nash, Shawn Findlay, Leon Johnson, Carlton Baugh (wk), Dave Mohammed, Nikita Miller, Jerome Taylor, Daren Powell, Kemar Roach, Fidel Edwards.

I hope Nash, Baugh and Mohammed show the selectors that they can compete at this level.

sarwan is way too slow on the field for this game.

what role is ganga playing on the team, if an opener, he cannot compete
with marshall and perkins/gayle and mohammed is a better option than both badree and emrit

i would go with

If reports of Gale resignation is correct, then GAYLE MUST BE COMMENDED for a playing his best innings yet.

His selfless resignation is commendable because Chris realizes he doesn't have the leadership abilities required to successfully take the team forward.

The early promise showed by GAYLE that many commentators spoke about was displaced and very typical of West Indian style analysis.

Thank you GAYLE, this decision shows you care about WI cricket, your resignation should now pave the way for the best man to resume the job that is rightfully his, since no other in the WI can do it better.

Ganga should be immediately appointed and given a long run to affect change.

In a related topic, I am dissapointed that Butts retained his selectors job, in fact I understand he is not the chair of the committee.

I would have like to see Lara in this role. The only consolation is Greenidge and Roberts are no longer around. Lets hope the two new selectors are straight and not swayed by insularity and favoritism.

Lets also hope a spinner, preferably Jaggers is given a chance to flourish.

As WI cricket (Gayle quit captain) and management (WICB CEO on administrative leave, corporate services manager Tony Deyal has been fired) keeps crumbling, the superior Shiv stands out.

It appears the Stanford selectors are smarter than Greenidge and Co- the inclusion of Ganga in the preliminary squad is a very wise move. No doubt, Ganga will captain this outfit- for he proved the most astute leader in the last Stanford outing.

I don't think Gayle can make the 20/20 team, he has failed miserably in every 20/20 match, both as a player and a captain-

the most important thing right now is the board and mgt of west indies cricket, qualified selectors who know what they are doing, who are up to date with technology, nderstand the international game, and are not living in the past like robrerts and company.
You have that in place, you have t\blhe faith of the west indies public and on going farm programs, we will win again. as far as
west indies captain, i will prefer see bravo. i think, he can inspire
and he represents what west indies want in players.

Ganga has not been doing well of late in his batting, and i dont
think west indies will embrace him as captain for that reason. If he as a great season regionally then he deserves a pick on the team like anyone else, we still have an opening slot available
with no one really claiming it, no 3 is set with sarwan, no 4 is open, 5 is chanders., so there is room for players to come forward.

mgt and planning will have to make get it right.

Coverdrive,

You neglected to mention the most important issue: That of captaincy/leadership.

As NY1 pointed out, the best leader.captain in the WI is in the sideline simply b/c the powers can't see why leadership is important and are only look at batting averages.

EVERYONE was talking about how good a leader and captain Gayle seems to be early on- now with the pressure on he is buckling under the weight of responsibility and accountability.

Ganga, may not have scored a lot of runs, and btw, Gayle didn't either, but Ganga the tactician and leader he is can and would have take the team forward.

Ganga must be appointed now.

And if there are certain players from a "big island" that don't want to support him, then they should be promptly dropped.

Let Ganga build this team and to hell with his batting average.

nothing happening american & ny1, i think everyone has had enouhgh of
these performances for now, both from players and admin. I always thought
we were a better oneday team than test, based on recent stats, but the batting left alot to be desired, and i really think its time to go to the under 19 level and build from there i we have not been winning with the core that we
have over a period of years, and its time for a change, there are a few good kids out there, and they should be looked at, as far as captaincy goes
i really dont know, Gayle is a leader but i dont think he knows what he is doing tactically sometimes, there was an over short in the last one day, which sarwan should have finished , and edwards should have bowled the
last over, or hold powell for it - that i cannot come to terms with.

for me from this group going forward i only see

gayle
sarwan
chanders
marshall
bravo
edwards
taylor.
roach looked good.

ramdhin for me is out of the question as a keeper/batsman.
powell, playing too long to be so inconsistent at test level, i loke him for onedays though.
chattergoon - no ready for the international pressure
morton - poor technique
sammy -too ordinary
benn - never impressed

we have 3 world class batsmen, 2
edwards, and taylor
and bravo
thats about goos as u can get, why cant we win?

Selection s/b based on performances of their last 5 games or respective averages against the other teams(similar to baseball).I will say it again-Ganga would have made a difference in more than one way.
